Twin Cities Winter Events 2023 with Kicksledding: Where to Try a Kicksled in Minnesota?

Looking for an event to try a kicksled this winter around the Twin Cities in Minnesota? You’re in luck! Kicksledding will be offered at many events this winter. This list includes events that have any type of kicksled– old, vintage or new ESLA kicksleds.

Brave The Snow is affiliated with some of these events, but not all. Look for Brave The Snow below for events we are participating in with our fleet of kicksleds. We hope you get to try kicksledding on a snowy trail this winter!

January 7, 2023. Saturday.

Eden Prairie- Staring Lake Park, Winter Blast 2:00PM–4:30PM  

A free winter event celebrating outdoor recreation! Take part in a variety of fun outdoor activities for all ages, including ice skating, kicksledding, sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, horse-drawn carriage rides and more.

  • Free use of kicksleds, snowshoes, ice skates, and cross-country skis
  • Create winter-themed art projects led by the Art Center
  • Learn about "Winter in Minnesota" from the Outdoor Center
  • Bring a sled for the snow hill 
  • Warm up by a bonfire
  • Purchase food from Potter's Pasties and Pies

Bloomington-Richardson Nature Center with Brave The Snow
25th Annual Ice Harvesting Event 10AM–2PM

  • Try an ESLA kicksled from Brave The Snow
  • Throw a snow snake and watch an ice rescue demonstration by Bloomington Fire and Rescue.
  • Cut blocks of ice out of the pond with a vintage ice saw 
  • Weigh blocks of ice, use chipping tools, and make ice cubes.
  • Discover food preservation techniques with costumed interpreters from The Landing and hear stories from ice harvesting historians.
  • Keep warm by a campfire.

Fridley- Springbrook Nature Center-Winterfest 2023 11AM–2PM 

Enjoy an exciting winter day in nature with the entire family!

Activities will include: Kicksledding, snowshoeing, medallion hunt, fat tire biking, snow painting, snowball launcher, and more!

Prior Lake, MN- Cleary Lake Regional Park 4:30–6PM

Explore the park on a Scandinavian-style kicksled and enjoy the wonders of winter around you. Discover the fascinating history of the park and lake including the Credit River Catholic Cemetery and former St. Peter’s Church, the Continental Machine company, and the farmsteads and homes of early settlers like the Cleary family. If snow/ice conditions don’t allow for kicksledding, we will hike instead.

Check out kicksledding with a Brave The Snow ESLA kicksled at the shanties! The Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival (12-4PM, same location) will also be taking place near the shanties at the same time!

Buffalo, Minnesota- Kites on Ice 11-3 pm w/ Brave The Snow

Kicksledding with Brave The Snow (free), fly your own kite (free), ice skating area, dog sled rides (free), Free kites for kids (while supplies last), cornhole tournaments, food trucks, beer garden and hot chocolate and treats.
